Two new hot-looking Nokia touchscreen phones saw daylight for the first time today. Both unannounced devices make a brief appearance in a video featuring the Nokia N97 designer. Judging by their looks they are both part of the quickly growing portfolio of touch-operated handsets by the Finnish manufacturer.
he Samsung Blue Earth is a solar powered, eco-friendly phone and it quite looks the part. Samsung say it was designed to resemble a rounded pebble and with the solar rear panel users can always count on enough charge to make a call. There's a regular DC charger for a rainy day too, which Samsung claim is highly energy efficient.
With an ultra low standby power charger and a recycled paper retail box, the Samsung Blue Earth has no other choice but follow suit. The handset is made of plastic from recycled water bottles and Samsung claim it's free of harmful materials.
Although we have seen other phones made from recycled materials, the first solar-powered touchscreen is really trying to provoke the user to be "green". A special "eco mode" puts a leash on power hogs like the screen and Bluetooth and sets them running in an energy efficient manner.

I have two mobile internet connections. One is the TATA Plug to Surf (USB Modem) connection which I generally use to connect my laptop to the Internet. This is not so good connection in particularly our area(Dombivali). I have got a better report of TATA USB connection from friends and colleagues who live in Mumbai and suberbs. Dombivali is part of Thane Dist. The thing I loved about Tata is that this modem support Linux and gives a better performance if used with Linux.
Well, the other connection I have is Vodafone Mobile. I am using this on my HTC Smartphone. Its awesome and works beyond expectations. I can chat with the help of the great messenger Mundu,
I was planning to terminate the Tata account as its not giving me the results. For this I need to make sure that the Vodafone connection on my Smartfone works with the Linux Distro (Ubuntu). I had some calls to the Vodafone Care and they said they dont support Linux. Grrrr!! That was a bad one. They have some drivers and scripts for windows and Macs respectively. The other issue is Vodafone do not support internet sharing using the HTC Smartfone. The lady from the Customer Care had a proficient knowledge about technology and had a good attitude towards the customers. I was very happy with the information she provided. She also promised me to share those scripts so that I can try to built my own scripts to share the Internet with my Ubuntu Linux. Ofcourse I tried to google before doing all these but didn’t found much help.
Feel free to comment if anyone has got any idea on how to share Vodafone internet with your linux distro.

The E-TEN Glofiish DX900 was announced last summer, but so far has failed to materialise.. and since the takeover of E-TEN by Acer, it perhaps looked like the handset had been cancelled.
This is a big phone, weighing 147 grams and measuring 106 x 61 x 17mm. The screen is a 2.8" 640 x 480 pixel touchscreen, and the DX900 also has built-in GPS, WiFi, microSD expandable memory and Bluetooth. Inside is a 533 MHz Samsung S3C 6400 processor and 128 MB of RAM - we would like to see more RAM in a device like this though.

The Samsung Memoir (also called the SGH-T929) is a handset aimed exclusively at the T-Mobile network in the US. Right at the moment, there are frustratingly few hard specifications for this device. Clearly, this is a touchscreen phone with a wide display, plus an 8 megapixel camera with a Xenon flash. The rumours are that this is a 1700 MHz UMTS (3G) device with GPS, but we don't know this for sure.
We can tell you that it measures 106 x 54 x 14mm and the Memoir weighs in at 125 grams. Maximum talktime is about 8 hours (presumably on GSM), and standby time is up to 9 days.

What do they have in common? The only common factor is that both use HF radio signals for their operation. But there is more. Already today GPS is getting incorporated in GSMs(Europe), cell phones(USA) and mobile phones(UK) and this development is accelerating in a great pace. In only a couple of years (almost) all GSMs will have a GPS receiver incorporated. And not the poor performing GPS receivers as we know them now from our handheld devices. No, the GSM/GPS combinations must be able to locate themselves under the most difficult circumstances i.e. indoors, in parking garages, in urban canyons, in large buildings etc.
here's a lot to fall for in Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. Possibly the hottest looker of a PocketPC is also heavy on skill. Heavy enough to not just scratch out a living as a one-hit-wonder but aim for the WinMo top.
The extra solid metal looks, gorgeous screen and the right pinch of novelty called XPERIA panels look to us as good enough reasons for the X1 to be hyped and romanticized. By the way, romance or not, Sony Ericsson and HTC have hit their perfect shape with that one.
The XPERIA X1 is surely the most eagerly anticipated device in the world of Windows Mobile. Getting our review out was surely quite a wait too, we know. Better late than ever, as some folks say. We'll still have our say 'cause for the XPERIA it's a load of high expectations to live up to.
